Cabeço de Vide is situated in the east of the Alto Alentejo between Estremoz and Portalegre. The region is hilly with many cork trees, olive trees and stone oaks.
In the surroundings are still many old historic cities to see where you still see much of the old portuguese culture.
Visiting cities like Évora, Estremoz, Elvas, Marvão, Castelo de Vide and Portalegre is definately worth while. Alter Pedroso is closeby and has a magnificent view.
In Vila Viçosa you can find the royal palace and in Arraiolos they are still making the real portuguese carpets.
In Alter do Chão you can visit the royal stables which are even for those not interested in horses impressive.
In many cities in the area there are big gipsy markets every week where you can find all kind of things.
Also Spain is only one hour by car. In Badajoz there are lots of shops and twice a week there is also a big market.
In the spring you can enjoy the many different colored fields with flowers.
There are various golfcourses and swimming pools in the area.
There is also a possibility to rent quads, motorbikes, horses and bikes. You can also go on beautiful walking trips everywhere and you can even climb rocks.
And from oktober until the end of april you can also go on a trip with a hotair balloon which is a wonderful experience here.
